about me

I will update this soon, but in the meantime,

I have begun a blog, which is on this page.

This is my background:

I am a writer and producer.

And I help others share their stories.

I've taught scriptwriting at Butler University, and have recently produced a documentary film about sudden loss and deep grief.

My work,

whether fiction or nonfiction,

whether via book, film, TV, theater, or teaching,

whether personal or collaborative,

whether local or global,

is for the purpose of helping others thrive.

I hope to somehow contribute to the healing of the world. Because the world needs healing. I think children are going to have a significant impact on this healing, because they remind us of our humanity. When we fail children, we fail human decency. And we know it. It is a relief to know that a rallying cry in honor of children will still bring a response ~ and a reform of some sort. Children also have an impact through their own initiative. I am in awe of the kids who are involved in global

healing. The world is being saved by seven-year-olds with a plan. The adults can't seem to get it done by themselves, so the kids are stepping up.

I'm creating this website for the purpose of promoting projects I'm involved in ~ and to open the door for new opportunities and collaborations; but the site is also for promoting the efforts of others who are doing what I'd like to do. Healing the world. Helping others thrive.

Unless labeled otherwise (or are regarding a featured guest/post), the photos on this site are mine. For more details, hover over "More" on the menu, then click "PHOTOS." The artwork on the INTO THE LIGHT OF A DARK BLACK NIGHT page, under "PROJECTS," is by Mary Sellers, a beautiful soul and graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. She created these portraits when she was in high school, drawing a portrait a day.

About the ocean.... I live in Indianapolis, and have for a long time, now; but I was born in California and lived there for nearly all of my first thirty years. The ocean is where I feel most connected to God. It is where I do my best listening ... and where the window in my thought is opened wide enough to trust the answers will come. It is where I feel the greatest sense of peace, and the clearest resolve for my necessary next steps.

And, finally... and most important...

My son, Jack, is now 26. I love him and adore him.

He is sweet and funny and passionately fierce.

I learn from him every single day of my life.

And I am grateful.
